Why the thermal sweat does not turn off after boiling: causes of damage and do-it-yourself repair

Before answering the question why the thermal sweat does not turn off after boiling, consider the principle of operation of the device. Compliance with safety rules and proper operation of the device is the guarantee that such a question does not spoil your life at all.

What is a thermal sweat and how is it arranged?

The device technology of this unit at the same time resembles both a kettle and a thermos. It can boil water, or it can simply be heated to the desired temperature. The maximum hot water in the thermal sweat is up to 100 degrees (you can brew tea leaves without problems). The device can maintain the set water temperature for several hours. Most models have 4-6 temperature conditions.

Thermopot consists of several parts:

  • two heating elements that are built into the metal bottom of the tank. The main one brings the water to a boil, the other maintains the set temperature. A stepless or stepwise temperature regulator is also installed in the device, which controls the heating of the liquid to the desired temperature;
  • water pump (pump) is designed to supply boiling water. Electric and manual modes are possible. Most often in thermal sweat device both are included;
  • The main circuit board is a time relay circuit. It turns on in the mode of re-boiling;
  • control board - there are buttons on the “Re-boiling” and “Water supply” modes on it. It also has LED indicators thermal sweat work;
  • thermal switch (chopper, thermostat) - temperature sensor. If the device was accidentally turned on without water, the contacts of the thermal switch open, thereby de-energizing the device.

Thermopot device

Thermopot is a steel flask, the volume of which ranges from 2.5 to 18 liters. The flask is enclosed in a plastic or metal case and is closed by a sealed cap on top of which is the control panel of the unit.

Boiled water can be poured into a cup thanks to a pump. If the device is disconnected from the mains - using a manual pump, or when the cup is pressed on the valve edge.

More expensive appliances have the following features:

  • several modes of maintained temperature (50-90 degrees);
  • a display showing the specified program;
  • boiling water at a specific time:
  • several ways of water supply (manual, electric, by pressing a cup on a valve);
  • two water tanks - in the first the temperature is regulated by the user, in the second - no;
  • function of reduced vaporization;
  • self-cleaning function.

Safety Rules When Using Thermal Sweat

As practice shows, the more carefully observe the rules for using the device, the less hassle arises for the user. Thermopot is no exception.

Almost all modern models are equipped with an automatic shut-off function if there is no water in the tank. But if the device has already “lived” enough, this safety measure may not work, and you risk losing the device or getting a fire.

In all models there is a function "Lock button loading during operation of the device." And in some models, the hand pump is also blocked during operation. Sometimes it happens that after you have poured water into a cup and released the valve, another boiling water surge occurs. If this happens with your appliance, you should always be alert when pouring boiling water.

If you want to drain the remaining water through the neck of the appliance, disconnect the cover so that it does not break off. Both the lid (break) and your hands (burn with boiling water) may suffer. Even if the manufacturer does not warn about this in the product passport, it is better to pay attention to it yourself. When tightening the cover, do so until it clicks into place.

Safety rules can be found in the instrument manual

How to use a thermal sweat

  1. Pour water into the tank not higher than the maximum level indicated on the scale.
  2. The water should be filtered before use, this procedure will reduce the likelihood of scale formation, and the technique will last much longer!
  3. Never place the appliance under running water from a tap (this could result in breakage)!
  4. We turn on the device in a network. After 20-25 minutes (depending on the power of the device), the water in a thermal stream will boil. After two hours, the device will go into the water heating mode: if the water temperature has become 60 degrees instead of the programmed 90, the thermal flow will periodically turn on for 15-20 seconds to maintain the temperature.
  5. Raise the mug and gently press the valve.

You might think that you are waiting for high energy costs, but this is not so. Using a thermal sweat is an order of magnitude more profitable than using an electric kettle.

What to do if the thermal sweat does not turn off, as expected, when boiling?

Thermal sweats break extremely rarely. If they are properly looked after, they will serve you a decent time. However, one may encounter such a situation: the apparatus constantly boils water, but does not think of turning off. He continues to rage, showing with his whole appearance that something went wrong. What to do in this situation?

  1. The first step is to disconnect the device from electricity.
  2. We look at the warranty period of the device. If the device is under warranty, pour boiling water through the neck of the device, take the documents attached to it and take it to a service center. If the warranty period of the thermal sweat has already expired, you can try to repair the device yourself.
  3. Most often, the causes of breakdowns are associated with the formation of scale in a thermal stream. In order not to provoke such a situation, it is necessary to periodically flush the device. In household chemical stores we buy a descaling agent, then proceed according to the instructions. From improvised means you can use baking soda - 1 tablespoon per liter of water. We boil water with soda in a thermal sweat as many times as a specific case requires. We drain the water.

Anti-scale products in electrical appliances

If the previous step did not help, you need to check the thermal switches installed on the bottom and on the side of the tank. A working thermal switch not connected to the mains when testing with an ohmmeter will show zero resistance. As a rule, the thermal switch installed in the bottom of the device is to blame for this malfunction of the thermal sweat. It serves to turn off the main heating element when the boiling point of water is reached. The temperature switch is marked with KSD 302, the response temperature is above one hundred degrees. If a malfunction of the thermal switch is detected, it is recommended to replace it. But finding the right one is not easy. As one of the ways - try to find the necessary part in the online store. When buying, we pay attention to the declared operating temperature and the nature of the conclusions of the thermal switch.

  1. When troubleshooting the unit, check the resistance of the heating coils. The resistance of the main spiral, which is used for boiling, is 70–80 Ohms; the resistance of the standby heating spiral is approximately 700–800 Ohms.
  2. The cause of the problem of boiling water can be a breakdown of the circuit, which is located on the control board and is responsible for the functions of boiling and supplying water, but if you do not have the skills to work with electronic circuit boards, it is better to leave this work to a specialist in repairing equipment.

Before you turn on the thermal sweat for the first time, carefully read the instructions for it.In it, as a rule, simple rules for the operation of the device are indicated. Observe them, and your device will delight you for years.
