Do-it-yourself battery replacement for floor scales

Each electronic device sooner or later fails. Household scales are no exception to this rule, although they are considered a simple electronic device. All models operate on the same principle, which means they have a similar nature of breakdowns and malfunctions. One of the most common is the failure of the battery. In order not to go to expensive service centers, you need to know how to change the battery in the scales.

How to understand that the batteries are out of order, and it's time to change them

The electronic device itself will notify the owner that the battery is dead and needs to be changed urgently. The abbreviation Lo will appear on the scoreboard. This is an abbreviation for the English word LOW, which translates to “low,” and in Russian, “low battery”.

Low battery

Replacing the battery in the floor scale is done as soon as this value appears on the display. Since during slow discharge, the balance may show incorrect or inaccurate numbersalthough for a while they still work.

In order for the equipment to work correctly again and the abbreviation Lo disappears from the display, you need to replace the battery or recharge the battery.

How often to replace batteries?

Most modern models of scales are powered by a 2032 lithium battery. Since it has a fairly small size, it may seem, at first glance, that it will not work for long. But lithium cells are quite capacious and have a low percentage of self-discharge. When used properly, the charge will last for one year.

To accurately display the weight of a person, it is recommended to change the battery at least once every six months. If for some reason the device is not used for a long time, it is better to remove the battery.

The charge time directly depends on the manufacturer: the higher its reputation and production quality, the longer the battery will last.

Varieties of batteries

In modern models of household floor scales, there is usually a display on which all operating information is displayed. Some models are supplemented with options that will help you begin to lead a healthy lifestyle and get rid of extra pounds.

In household floor scales, as a rule, three types of batteries are installed:

  1. Foundry CR 2032/2430. Usually they are called "pills" or "coins." They have a round flat shape, the diameter of the element is 20 or 24.5 mm, the operating voltage is three volts. They cannot be recharged, only completely replaced. Buy them is not difficult.

  2. AA Due to the cylindrical shape, these elements are called “finger-type”. The diameter of the element is 13.5 mm, the length is 50.5 mm, and the voltage is 1.5 volts. There are rechargeable batteries designed for several hundred recharges. You can buy such items in any store that specializes in selling electronics.
  3. AAA. Also called "little fingers." The diameter is 10.5 mm, the dyne is 44.5 mm. They create a voltage of 1.5 volts. It is also possible to charge AAA batteries. Items are sold in any store or supermarket in the electronics department.

In some models of floor scales, the batteries are immediately included.

How is the replacement

To bring floor scales back to life, do not use batteries removed from other household appliances. A partially worked out element does not have a stable voltage, so the data on the device may be displayed with errors, or the equipment will not even turn on.

Before replacing the battery with your own hands, you need to turn the balance upside down. Below there is a special compartment, which can be closed in two ways:

  1. The cover calls into special grooves.
  2. The plate rests on a special screw that needs to be unscrewed with a screwdriver.

Battery compartment

When the compartment is open, you need to remove the used batteries. If they sit tight, you can use nail clippers or a nail file. In place of the removed one, insert a new battery. In this process, it is important to observe the poles - plus and minus. Tips are always on the instrument body.

After the power is installed correctly, the compartment must be closed.
