Error code F40 in the Bosch washing machine

Error F40 indicates a malfunction in the mains. This means that there is no electricity at all or the voltage is too low. For the Bosch washing machine to function correctly, a voltage of at least 190 watts is required. Sometimes power surges can cause temporary problems, but if the code does not disappear from the display, you need to start the diagnosis and look for the causes of the failure.

What to check yourself?

  • First, make sure that the apartment has electricity. Turn on any electrical appliance or just a light bulb;
  • Check the machine - it may be enough to return it to the “on” position;
  • Make sure that the outlet from which the washing machine is powered is working properly. To do this, simply turn on any other working electrical device or use a special tester or indicator screwdriver;
  • Pay attention to the network cable. If you notice damage, we advise you to completely change the cord - it is not worth repairing the punctures with electrical tape, this method can help temporarily, but it is definitely not the right way to solve the problem;
  • If an extension cord is used in addition to the cord (the machine is set too far from the nearest outlet), it must also be examined for damage. Try to do without an extension cord by plugging the machine into a power outlet directly, or take another. This will help you quickly figure out whether to include an extension cord in the list of potential sources of the problem.
