Fix e22 error in the dishwasher

Dishwasher is a fully automated appliance. In addition to its main function - washing dishes, it is able to diagnose the operation of its systems and mechanisms and to report a failure in a timely manner. The machine "communicates" with the user through special codes. The code is displayed on the control panel and is the cipher of a certain type of breakdown.

Error e22 - program failure or malfunction?

Error e22 is the fault code in the Bosch machine. More often, a message appears on the display closer to the end of the wash cycle. The program freezes and signals a problem. Turning on - turning off helps to resume work, but not for long, after several cycles, the error is repeated again. But, this time, at the beginning of the cycle, or in the middle. Repeated shutdown again saves the situation, but does not eliminate the problem. Error e22 (Fig. 1), appears already alternately with error e24. Frequent restart of the software can only aggravate the problem, causing a breakdown of the control unit. And this, in turn, will result in costly repairs. Therefore, if the "reboot" did not lead to a full restoration of operability, and the error persists, you should immediately proceed to eliminate the malfunction.

Error code e22 - how to understand and what to do?

The Bosch machine manual decrypts e22 as a dirty filter, and e24 as a clogged drain hose. Logic suggests that you need to clean the filter (Fig. 2), since clogging impedes the flow of water. If this is the case, then water will be detected in the pan of the chamber, and the filter will be clogged with food debris and / or fat deposits. In this case, it is enough to clean it of dirt, if necessary, using a brush. But what to do if the filter is clean, in 50 percent of cases?

So you need to start inspecting the drain hose, especially if errors e22 and e24 alternately appear on the display. First of all, to identify the presence of excesses, creases and violation of integrity, and then garbage, body fat. If necessary, clean it or replace it. But, it may happen that there are no blockages in the hose. Then the problem needs to be looked deeper. Deeper - this is in the pump. Most likely, a blockage formed between the sleeve and the impeller. Even a thread can paralyze the operation of the pump impeller and block the rotation of the diffuser (Fig. 3).

Can I fix the malfunction myself? It is possible, say experts of service centers, but this should be done correctly and consistently. Step-by-step check all the elements of the dishwasher, in which malfunctions e22 signals.

The main thing is to remember that all work with equipment should be carried out after disconnecting the power supply from the mains. The close proximity of water greatly increases the risk of electric shock, especially if the user who is disassembling and diagnosing the unit is poorly qualified.

Repair sequence

Step 1: Disconnect the dishwasher from the mains.

Step.2: Disconnect communications.

Step3: Free the dishwasher chamber from dishes, grates, trays.

Step 4: Remove the water diffuser.

Step 5: Clean the trash filter.

Step 6: Clean the strainer.

Step 7: Remove the bolts and remove the pipe; clean if necessary.

Step 8: Carefully turn the machine upside down, unscrew the pallet fasteners.

Step 9: Remove the leakage sensor.

Step 10: Pull out the pallet and set aside (Fig. 4).

Step 11: There is a pump on the heating block. It is necessary to disconnect the wires and unscrew the pump (Fig. 5).

Step 12: Test the impeller rotation, detect foreign objects, debris.

Step 13. Remove the rotor. Remove any obstruction.

Step 14. Install the pump.

Step 15. Inspect the drain hose, its integrity and clogging. If there are any transferred or worn-out areas, the hose should be replaced. In case of contamination, remove and rinse.

Step 16. Assemble the machine in the appropriate order.

Step 17. Check the operation.

In most cases, this sequence of actions leads to the elimination of the problem and the restoration of the “dishwasher”. But, if the malfunction is not resolved and the e22 error does not disappear, the dishwasher should be examined more thoroughly, and possibly costly repair.

When using low-temperature programs, for example, in order to save energy, the filter and lines are clogged with grease. Therefore, to prevent such contaminants, after 3-4 cycles at a low temperature, you should use a high-temperature program to clean parts from fat deposits.

If it turns out that the problem persists

A possible cause of the malfunction is corrosion of internal parts and components. In this case, anti-corrosion treatment will be required, and in advanced cases, replacement of affected parts.

Another malfunction that the control module will signal with the encoding in question is a break in the winding in the drain pump. If you have the skills to work with equipment, the problem is fixed independently. It is necessary to check the connectors of the drain pump by disassembling the machine, according to the sequence indicated above.

Quite rarely, but it happens that the e22 error indicates a violation of the integrity of some elements, the failure of the pipe or heater. Diagnosis and elimination of such malfunctions is best entrusted to a specialist.

According to service center employees, it is sometimes easier to fix the problem associated with the e22 error code than to diagnose it. Therefore, it is important to follow the rules for using the machine, not too lazy to study the instructions. Thoroughly clean the dishes of food debris before loading into the chamber, in order to avoid further clogging of the elements of the dishwasher.
